Classic Light Lounge was the first regular classical music evening in a cocktail bar in Central London.

In its first iteration, it ran from 10th October to 21st November 2017 at the Light Lounge in Chinatown. We have now found a new home and will publish details here before Christmas 2024. It will all start in the new year in the City of London and will happen once a month…

We play a published playlist, curated by Wolfgang Mittelmaier, a genuine and very serious German music lover.

You are likely to be able to simply waltz in and grab a Wolfgang’s Overture (a rum-based cocktail), but if you want to make sure you have somewhere to sit, we encourage you to make a reservation – again, come back here for details closer to the time.

The playlists

Playlists are downloadable Apple Music playlists, published every week on this site. You can also download the playlists from all past Classic Light Lounge nights.

The series started on Tuesday, 10th October 2017 and in its first phase will have its last evening on Tuesday, 21st November 2017 5pm-11.30pm.

Charity: Music Fund

The Classic Light Lounge exists to offer you a place where you can chill out to a sophisticated selection of classical music.

However, it also benefits Music Fund, the charity that brings musical instruments to conflict zones. They repaired the only grand piano in the Gaza Strip, for example.

There is a tip jar at the bar, but you can also choose from two cocktails, the Wolfgang’s Lament (a rum based long drink) or the Naked Wolfgang (spiced coconut water, alcohol-free) – £2 of the price go directly to Music Fund.
